Allowing any service provider into your home can be a risky venture, and the security profession is no exception. Use caution when a security company or any door-to-door service provider approaches your home without an appointment. - Don't just let them into your house. Ask to see a badge, call the company and confirm this person is who they say there are. - Don't feel pressured: Stay clear from sales people that utilize deceptive sales or high pressure “only today” deals to encourage you to buy on the spot. A reputable company will want to earn your business and give you a great deal even if you take the time to research the company or product. - Some companies will imply that they are with your existing provider and that they have come to upgrade your current system.
